The architecture of the building

The respectful handling of the historical structure and the preservation of the original atmosphere were vital parts of the renovation. Every working component was carefully refurbished, repaired and complemented where necessary. New interventions naturally complete the existing structure while clearly standing out. Only few, preferably natural or untreated materials were used: exposed concrete, black steel, larch wood and glass. The respectful composition of old and new elements allows for a journey through 350 years of building history.

Unlike before, all parts of the building serve for living purposes today: the three upper floors of the original residential building now contain kitchen, dining room, bed- and bathrooms. The former barn serves as living hall, while the old stable now sports a spa.
